About Livid
Livid was launched in January of 2026 to bring a bit of soul back to the video hosting industry. Ad-free video hosting has been dominated by one player for years, who has been slowly declining in service while increasing prices.Livid is run by industry veterans hailing from StreamYard - a successful web based streaming platform, which literally had a duck for a logo, as it was the friendliest creature we could think of. We were super passionate about StreamYard and in return, StreamYard’s users were passionate about us.But then in 2024 we experienced the pain of a corporate “spooning”. StreamYard was acquired by Bending Spoons - we were all fired and prices were jacked up. The soul was ripped out of our business and our users could feel it. We were all pretty livid 😉.Fast forward to the end of 2025 and we could see it was about to happen again - this time to Vimeo. While Vimeo had already lost a lot of soul before the acquisition - there was still plenty of damage left to be done by Bending Spoons. Significant price rises were certain to be coming, but this time we felt there was something we could do to help users.
